At Keith’s request, it was fitted with a 4 5/8-inch barrel and a brass Super Blackhawk style back strap and wide trigger. 41 Magnum was developed, Keith received the first revolver to leave the factory, and it featured serial number 67. Ruger even made the long drive from New England to Salmon, Idaho, in the early 1950s to show Keith his prototype Single-Six revolver and seek input on the upcoming Blackhawk. The revolver is capable of top accuracy and often produces ragged, one-hole groups at 25 yards, naturally with Keith bullets.Elmer Keith and Bill Ruger were more than industry acquaintances they were good friends. Keith took many large Idaho jackrabbits (a pest) and mule deer with this outfit. It features a Super Blackhawk style brass grip frame, custom stocks and is shown with an original George Lawrence Keith designed 120 holster. 41 Magnum with serial number 67 was owned by Elmer Keith, who was the driving force in convincing Smith & Wesson, Bill Ruger and Remington to work together and develop this cartridge.
